ABOUT

I'm Gian-Luca Weidinger, a filmmaker from Switzerland. My focus lies in capturing genuine moments and translating them into visual stories that aim to connect with people on a human level. I strive for authenticity in everything I produce, letting the subject speak for itself through the lens.
My work is grounded in observation and empathy. Rather than staging scenes, I aim to reflect the reality of my subjects in a way that feels honest and emotionally resonant. Visual storytelling, for me, is about listening just as much as it is about seeing.
During my time in the Swiss Army, I worked in the media department, which gave me access to situations and experiences that are usually out of reach for civilians. These moments challenged me, shaped my perspective, and gave me a broader understanding of the role media plays—even in complex environments.
Lately, I've been working in the field of reportage and documentary. Most recently, I traveled to Ukraine to document the lives of people affected by war—individuals adapting to a new reality behind the frontlines. These stories continue to inspire me to explore underrepresented perspectives and bring them to light through film.

My approach is grounded in listening — understanding your vision, values, and story — to create work that feels real and resonates. From vivid imagery to honest narratives, I aim to move and connect.
